Overnighter at Lingfield Park / Royal Ashdown 19/20 May 2020

Although we were a small group, everyone enjoyed the couple of days in Sussex where we had warm weather and sunshine. Three of our wives joined the party including Jenny Pennell who played on both days.

The Lingfield course was very tight and surprisingly the scores were similar (averaging ~28 points) to those achieved the following day on the Royal Ashdown Old course. Stephen Rhodes playing off 18 with a creditable 38 points won the Irish Vase.

At Royal Ashdown on Monday, Nick Rivers did very little wrong and won the Norris Challenge trophy with 34 points playing with a handicap of 20. Perhaps because he had been cut to 16, Stephen wasn’t quite able to repeat his Sunday’s form.

Had we be playing scratch golf, Neil Battams who had to play with a  BTU adjustment of 4 would have won on both days. Well played Neil.

We added drawn pair competitions on each day ( no trophies ).  At Lingfield Park  Neil Battams and Martin Down were the winners and at Royal Ashdown, Nick Rivers and John Little were the champions.
