Origins in the "Golfing Circle" of the Institution of Heating and Ventilating Engineers

The 2016 BTU National Championships was hosted by the Yorkshire Region at Oakdale Golf Club, in Harrogate, on Thursday 2nd and Friday 3rd June 2016.
The players that represented “The BTU” were Ben Brown, Doug Chalmers, Martin Down, Bob Exley, Paul Hucker, Andy Kirton, David Knight, Ken Minter, Trevor Perry, Chris Warrick and Melvyn Wright.
Oakdale Golf Club was designed by Dr Alister MacKensie, who also design Augusta National. The course opened in 1914, just 3 days before the outbreak of the First World War.
With only one practise round and on a course that played totally different on Championship day, our team were placed a very creditable 4th overall.
The sponsors provided various elements of food, drink and supplies throughout the day, including Hand warmers, well it was June after all.
The event was won by the hosts, Yorkshire BTU who retained the cup having previously won in 2014.
